Customizing Windows XP: Visual QuickProject Guide
One of the best customization features in Outlook Express is to turn off graphics in email messages that you receive. Not only will you no longer have to see pictures from advertising that you didn't ask for, but you can prevent spammers from verifying your email address. When you open an email message from a spammer, your email software tells the spammer's server to send you the picture, which notifies the spammer that your email address is valid. Turn the graphics off, and your email software will not try to contact the spammer.
When you receive messages, Outlook will tell you if it has blocked pictures. If the message is from someone you know, you can click a link in the email message called Click here to download pictures. |
