Programming MicrosoftВ® OutlookВ® and Microsoft Exchange 2003, Third Edition (Pro-Developer)

The Offline Free/Busy Application

To give you a head start in building complex applications that use the development features in Outlook, I've included some applications with the companion content that are not covered in this chapter. One sample you might find particularly useful is the Offline Free/Busy application. By combining COM add-ins, ActiveX controls, and custom Outlook forms, this sample allows you to synchronize information about availability of users at different points in time (free/busy information) for all users in your organization. While working off line, users can also create meeting requests that query the free/busy information for other users. Figure 8-28 shows the property page you can use to set up the users you want to synchronize off line. Figure 8-29 shows the custom Outlook form and ActiveX control that allow you to work with the synchronized free/busy information.
