BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 Kick Start: Simplifying Java Web Applications and J2EE

 <  Day Day Up  >

In this chapter, you learned that

  • Logical groups of servers called domains are the basic administrative unit for Weblogic Platform.

  • There are two types of servers in a domain. The administration server handles administrative tasks , and managed servers handle processing client requests .

  • The Configuration Wizard allows you to create new production names quickly and easily.

  • Weblogic Platform has a central administrative unit, which makes it easy to manage the infrastructure in production.

  • WebLogic Server should be started in production mode for a production environment.

  • Servers in production mode require you to manually create the resources WebLogic Server uses internally.

  • Applications can be deployed as an archive or in exploded directory format.

  • For a clustered environment, target applications to the cluster instead of to individual servers.
