This chapter has given you a closer look at three key areas in which XML support in Office 2003 is put to good use: smart documents, smart tags, and InfoPath. Smart documents provide a great opportunity for developers to create custom solutions-based templates that are tailored to the needs of information workers in specific industries; smart tags enable businesses and developers to provide workers with pertinent contextual links and actions related to their work in a specific document; and InfoPath digitizes data capture from common business process forms and saves all the information in industry-standard XML. These progressive, exciting additions to Office 2003 allow organizations and individuals to capture data more intentionally, share it more easily, and use it more efficiently, in individual applications, across team projects, or throughout an entire enterprise system.
