These appear as tiny Post-It-style notes in the PDF. Mousing over the note displays the note's content, which is the actual comment itself. Notes can be deleted by clicking them with the Hand tool and pressing the Delete or Backspace key. 1. | Select the Note Tool Before adding any comment to a PDF, you must first select the appropriate commenting tool. In this case, that's the Note tool. You can select the Note tool directly by clicking the Tools menu and selecting Commenting, Note Tool . If you are going to be doing a lot of annotating, you should display the Commenting toolbar, which gives you easy access to several commenting tools. You can display this toolbar by clicking the Tools menu and selecting Commenting, Show Commenting Toolbar (located at the bottom of the menu). | 2. | Place the Note Click or near the item you want to comment on. A note icon appears in the document at that location and a small window opens on the right side of the document that points back to the icon. Both the icon and the window can be easily repositioned by simply clicking the icon or the title bar of the window with the Hand tool and dragging either one to a new position. TIP | To give you an idea of how many note-type comments are added to a document compared to all other comment types, the first command in the Comments menu is Add a Note . It is the only comment type that appears in the main Comments menu, and it is the only comment type that can be added directly from a menu (all other comments must be added by selecting the appropriate tool and then clicking in the document). Selecting this command places a note in the middle of the document window. You can move this note as desired by dragging it to a new location. | | 3. | Add Comments Type your comments into the note window. If you need to reopen a note's comment window, simply double-click the note icon. You can also select text and use the Options menu in the upper-right corner of the comment window to do basic text editing and formatting. Click the close box of the comment window to close it when you are done entering your comments. | |
