There are two ways to order Cisco IP Communications (IPC) Express. You can choose one of the bundles, or you can choose a la carte, where you order each item separately:

Bundles Bundles offer the most popular hardware and software combinations. If you are deploying a new system, several discounted bundles that include both the hardware and software components of Cisco IPC Express are available to make the ordering process easier.

A la carte If you have a unique configuration, ordering a la carte gives you more flexibility in your choices. It is also the appropriate choice if you already have a Cisco access router for your data infrastructure. To deploy a Cisco IPC Express system, you have to upgrade your Cisco IOS software to a voice-capable image, check that your dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) and Flash capacity on the router are sufficient to support a voice image, purchase a Cisco CME feature license for the desired number of IP phones, and purchase an IP phone seat license for each phone. Cisco UE mailbox licenses can optionally be ordered if you plan on deploying voice mail and an AA application.

Ordering a Cisco IPC Express System a La Carte

Ordering the components of a Cisco IPC Express solution involves several steps:

Step 1.

Select a Cisco IPC platform. Select an appropriate Cisco IPC Express platform for your office. Which one you choose depends on the number of users in your office, the number of IP phones you plan to support, future growth plans, and your budget. The range of available platforms is described in Chapter 1, "Introducing Cisco IPC Express."

Step 2.

Verify memory requirements. Ensure that the platform you select has enough memory to support the solution. Check the memory requirements for the Cisco IOS release you intend to use on Cisco.com.

Step 3.

Select the appropriate Cisco IOS software feature set and release. The following feature sets supported with Cisco IOS Release 12.3(4)T and later are required to deploy Cisco IPC Express: IP Voice, SP (Service Provider) Services, Advanced IP Services, Enterprise Services, and Advanced Enterprise Services. If you want to deploy voice and security features, the minimum feature set required is the Advanced IP Services image.

Next, find the version or release of Cisco CME and Cisco UE (if desired) from Table A-1.

You can also use the Cisco Feature Navigator, a web-based tool, to determine which features are supported in a specific Cisco IOS image. You need a Cisco.com account to access the Feature Navigator at http://www.cisco.com/go/fn.

Step 4.

Choose a Cisco CME feature license. Choose the appropriate Cisco CME feature license from Table A-2, based on the number of phones you plan to deploy. The feature licenses can be combined to support more phones per router. For example, the FL-CCME-SMALL can be combined with the FL-CCME-72 to support a total of 96 phones.

A minimum of 12.3.11T is required to support more than 120 IP phones with Cisco IPC Express. Note that the Cisco CME licenses can be converted without additional cost to Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) licenses later if you migrate to a Cisco CallManager network.

Step 5.

Choose a Cisco IP phone license. Choose the appropriate Cisco phone license if you are ordering new IP phones for your Cisco IPC Express solution (see Table A-3). Replacement phones are exempt from this requirement. Note that if you choose to migrate from Cisco CME to Cisco CallManager at some point, these phone licenses can be migrated to Cisco CallManager without additional cost.

Step 6.

Select the PSTN connectivity. Choose the appropriate voice interface cards required for the PSTN trunk connectivity required. The interface cards supported on the Cisco IPC Express platforms are described in Chapter 6, "Cisco CME PSTN Connectivity Options."

Step 7.

Choose additional applications. Order additional applications, such as Cisco UE, as required. See the section "Ordering Cisco UE" for details.

Ordering Cisco IPC Express Bundles

A wide range of bundles is available, as shown in Table A-5. The bundles include the Cisco IPC Express platform, an appropriate Cisco IOS image, the recommended amount of memory, DSPs for PSTN connectivity, and the Cisco feature license supporting a specific number of IP phones.

Ordering Cisco UE

Cisco UE is an optional voice mail and AA application to be added on to your Cisco IPC Express solution. Cisco UE integrates into your Cisco CME router platform. Because of this, the Cisco IOS software feature set and release requirements for the Cisco IPC Express platforms, and the feature license requirements for Cisco CME described earlier, also apply to Cisco UE. The following are the steps to add the Cisco UE application to your order:

Step 1.	Select the Cisco UE hardware. Select either a network module (NM) or asynchronous interface module (AIM) form factor. Note that the minimum IOS software release required to support the NM-CUE is 12.3(4)T and 12.3(7)T for the AIM-CUE.
Step 2.	Select the software release. Select the appropriate Cisco UE release you want to deploy. The following releases are available: SCUE-2.0 SCUE-2.1
Step 3.	Select the license level. Select the Cisco UE license level based on the number of mailboxes you require: SCUE-LIC-100CME100 mailboxes SCUE-LIC-50CME50 mailboxes SCUE-LIC-25CME25 mailboxes SCUE-LIC-12CME12 mailboxes
Step 4.	Select the languages. If a language other than the default of U.S. English is required, select the desired language for the system: CUE-LANG-FRA CUE-LANG-ESP CUE-LANG-DEU
