Activity 5.1. Sending a Word Document to PowerPoint
You can apply heading styles to Word content and then send it to PowerPoint to create the presentations content. This process will create multiple slides at one time. The slides will have titles and bullets.
1.
Start Word. On the File menu, click Open, and then from the folder that contains your project files, double-click the file New_Employees_List.

Save the file as New_Employees_List_Firstname_Lastname

On the Formatting toolbar, click Styles and Formatting. The Styles and Formatting task pane displays.
Text formatted as Heading 1 style will become the title on a new slide in PowerPoint. Text formatted as Heading 2 will become the first bulleted level on a slide. Text formatted as Heading 3 will indent below the first bulleted level.

Select the first item, numbered 1) in the list, Complete Required Forms. In the task pane, click Heading 1. The Heading 1 style changes the format and removes the numbering.

Select the second item, numbered 2), and then hold the key and select the third item, numbered 3). In the task pane, click Heading 1.
The three numbered items from the list now all have a Heading 1 style and will become the titles on the slides in PowerPoint.
To select multiple items, hold the key as you select the text.

Select all the lettered items below each heading. In the task pane, click Heading 2. The new heading style changes the format and removes the letters before the items.

Click in the document to deselect the text.
These items will become bullet items on each slide. Compare your screen with Figure 5.2.

Save your file.

On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Microsoft Office PowerPoint.
A PowerPoint window opens, and the Slides tab shows three slides created from the Word content. Compare your screen with Figure 5.3.

Save the PowerPoint file as New_Employees_Firstname_Lastname You will continue working with this file.
