Setting Up the System Clock
System Clock
The system clock can be adjusted by choosing Configuration > Features > Device Administration > Administration > Clock, as shown in Figure 18-15. Select the appropriate time zone from the drop-down menu and adjust the system date by browsing through the monthly calendar. The system time can be adjusted by entering the time in the 24-hour format. In Figure 18-15, the system time is being adjusted to 5:05:05 a.m. on August 5, 2005 in the Eastern time zone. Click Apply to adjust the system clock.

Example 18-6 displays the CLI commands to adjust the system clock that ASDM sends to the security Cisco ASA.

The system clock can be dynamically adjusted if an NTP server is specified on Cisco ASA. Set up an NTP server by choosing Configuration > Features > Device Administration > Administration > NTP. Click Add to enter a new NTP server and specify the IP address and the source interface information, as shown in Figure 18-16. If NTP authentication is being used, specify the authentication key and the key value. In this figure, a preferred NTP server located at 192.168.10.50 toward the inside interface is defined with an authentication key number of 1 and a key value of csco.
