Implementing Quality of Service in MPLS Networks
Quality of service (QoS) is an integral part of large networks to enable service differentiation as well as to determine the priorities assigned to a variety of traffic classes. With an increase in the adoption of technologies such as Voice over IP (VoIP) by large enterprises around the world, the need for service differentiation by the service provider offering Internet or intranet services has achieved greater significance. This chapter deals with QoS theory and configuration applicable to MPLS networks using the Differentiated Services (Diff-Serv) model.
