Object Transport
BW uses the same architecture, tools, and programs to transport objects as R/3 does. The following high-level SAP procedure explains how you transport objects from the development system to other systems (Figure 14.1):

- Develop and test objects in the development system. When the objects are ready for extensive and pre-production testing, export and save them in a common transport directory in the operating system.
- Import the objects into the quality assurance system and conduct pre-production testing.
- If the objects pass the test, import them into the production system. Otherwise, repeat Steps 12.
In this chapter, we will discuss how to transport BW objects in the transport environment depicted in Figure 14.1. Refer to the SAP Basis documentation for information on how to build a transport system.
